Changanassery: The crew of a private bus turned lifesavers on Saturday when they rushed a woman passenger, who had collapsed on board, to the hospital. When the bus got stuck in a traffic jam, the conductor and a passenger ran ahead to clear a path, helping the vehicle navigate through the gridlock.
The incident occurred around 1:40 pm on the bus named JJMS Mulakupadam, which operates on the Changanassery–Thengana–Thrikkodithanam route. The woman collapsed near SB School on Vazhoor Road during the trip to Changanassery. She was immediately taken to Changanassery General Hospital and later recovered.
As a long line of vehicles formed between the Railway Junction and the Central Junction, bus conductor KM Sumesh and passenger Sojan S Sreedharan acted swiftly, clearing a way for the bus to move. Meanwhile, other passengers attended to the collapsed woman, ensuring she received care until the bus reached the hospital.
The bus driver, Ratheesh R. Nair, hails from Kailathupadi near Thrikkodithanam, while conductor Sumesh is a native of Vadakkekkara. Sojan, who assisted the bus crew, is from Vengotta near Madappally and serves as the office secretary of the CPI Mandalam Committee.
