Thiruvananthapuram: A tattoo artist was arrested for allegedly brandishing a revolver at another motorist following a road accident in the city on Sunday night. The accused, identified as Robin John, who runs a tattoo studio at Muttathara, was taken into custody after the incident near a hotel at Aristo Junction around 9.15 pm.

According to police, John’s car reportedly hit another vehicle while exiting the hotel premises, leading to a heated argument with the two occupants of the other car. In a fit of anger, John allegedly grabbed one of them by the collar. When the man’s friend intervened, John went to his vehicle, took out a revolver, and allegedly pointed it at a person identified as Nasumudeen of Muttathara, threatening to shoot him.

A crowd soon gathered at the spot and alerted the police, who arrived and took John into custody.

Thampanoor police have registered a case against him under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 296(b) (uttering obscene words), and 323 (fraudulent concealment of property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 27 of the Arms Act for illegal use of arms.

Police said John claimed to have a licence for the revolver but failed to produce any documents. An investigation is underway to trace the source of the weapon, and the accused will be produced before the court soon.
