Idukki: A member of an inter-state MDMA drug trafficking network has been arrested in Kattappana here on Tuesday. Sudheesh, a resident of Mulakaramedu A K G Padi Top in Kattappana, was arrested after a joint operation by the Idukki police and DANSAF team. 

Acting on a tip-off, the police seized 39.7 grams of MDMA from his residence during a raid on Monday night. The police said that Sudheesh was part of a racket that smuggled MDMA from Bengaluru to Kerala for distribution. The information about his involvement was obtained from individuals who had allegedly purchased and used the drug.

Police have intensified the search for other members of the network. "All efforts are underway to track down his accomplices," said Kattappana DySP Nishad Mon. The accused was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

The operation was carried out under the direction of Idukki District Police Chief Sabu Mathew IPS, led by DySP V A Nishad Mon, with the assistance of Kattappana Circle Inspector T C Murugan, Sub-Inspectors Baby Biju and Mahesh, SCPOs Jobin Jose and Anumon Ayyappan, CPOs Albash, Bijin, and Sabeena, and members of the District DANSAF team.
