Varkala: The motorcade of the President of India, en route from the Varkala beach helipad to Sivagiri, came to an unexpected halt on Thursday noon. President Droupadi Murmu stepped out of her vehicle to interact with a group of students from Government Model Higher Secondary School, Varkala, turning an ordinary day into an unforgettable one for them.

For the students, who had gathered by the roadside hoping to catch just a glimpse of the President from afar, it became a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Meanwhile, her spontaneous gesture momentarily surprised her security team, who were caught off guard by the President’s decision to step out, deviating from standard protocol. But the scene that followed was filled with warmth and smiles.

The episode unfolded around 12 noon, as the President’s convoy made its way along Kshethram Road. About 100 students, including NCC and Student Police Cadets, were standing lined up with welcome placards and flower bouquets. As the president approached them, the students eagerly greeted her, shaking hands with her and presenting with marigold flowers grown in their own school garden.

Later, while returning from the Sivagiri function, President Murmu once again paused briefly to wave and greet the young children of Varkala LPG School, who were waiting by the roadside.
