Bheemanady: A new scheme titled Mission Wild Pig project is set to be implemented in West Eleri panchayat to address the growing challenges posed by wild boars. The decision was made during a meeting held as part of Mission Wild Pig, one of the ten action plans introduced by the government to tackle human-animal conflict.

Panchayat president Girija Mohanan presided over the meeting, while Kanhangad Range Forest Officer K Rahul outlined the activities under the Mission Wild Pig initiative. Since West Eleri panchayat does not have licensed shooters, members from the Kasargod District Gun Licensee Association will be enlisted for the project.

It will be carried out in areas severely affected by wild boar attacks, including Kammadam, Paalakkunnu, Ottappadavu, Maukkadu, Eechippoyil, Kuranchery, Mauveni Kottamala, Kaavunthala, Kaakkadavu, Chemmaramkayam, Badoor, Kaalikkadavu, Bheemanady, Koovappara, Chaamakkulam, Chattamala, Kaattamkavala, Cheerkkayam, Kolathukaadu, Mudanthenpara, Punakkunnu, Pumgachaal, Vilangu, Elerithattu, Varakkadu, Plachikkara, and Parappachal.

The meeting was also attended by panchayat vice-president P C Ismail, panchayat secretary K Santhosh Kumar, Agriculture Officer V V Rajeevan, District Gun Licensee Association joint secretary A Gireesh, and panchayat members K K Thankachan, Molikutty Paul, P J James, T V Rajeevan, E T Jose, N V Pramod and Binu Murali, who shared their views and support for the initiative.
