CISF personnel held for stalking, abducting woman he met on Instagram in Kasaragod

Kasaragod: The Melparamba Police on Wednesday arrested a CISF personnel for stalking, abducting and threatening a woman he befriended on Instagram. Police said that Aneesh Kumar, a native of Kodakkad in Pilicode panchayat, is a CISF constable posted in Delhi.
According to the FIR, police have booked him for kidnapping with the intention of rape, stalking, and threatening with death. Based on the woman’s complaint, she met him on Instagram, but had been persistently stalking her both online and in person despite her disinterest.
On Tuesday afternoon, when she boarded a bus from Cherkala to Kanhangad, he followed her on a scooter. When the bus stopped at Chattanchal, he got on and pulled her out. He then made her sit on his scooter and took her to a secluded quarry at Poinachi, where he allegedly slapped her, placed a knife on her neck and abdomen, and threatened to kill her.
The woman, a native of West Eleri hill panchayat, said she managed to escape and approach the police.
Police said the man has been booked under six sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS): Section 87 (kidnapping for forced intercourse), Section 78(1) (stalking), Section 126(2) (wrongful restraint), Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 74 (using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman), and Section 351(3) (criminal intimidation by threatening to cause death).
The offences are non-bailable, and some carry a maximum imprisonment of up to 10 years.
