Kozhikode: A 15-year-old Aluva native, who was in critical condition after falling into a wastewater tank in Kozhikode, died in a private hospital in Ernakulam on Thursday.

The deceased, Mohammed Sinan, was a student at the Buhari Institute in Cheruvadi under Kodiyathur grama panchayat. The tragic incident occurred on October 20 in the compound of a private auditorium, ‘Paramount’, at Alungal in Cheruvadi, located close to his institute.

Sinan reportedly fell into an under-construction wastewater tank that had been left open and was hidden beneath rainwater accumulated in the area. He had been playing in the compound with his friends when the accident happened.

He was pulled out motionless and without a pulse by the Mukkam fire and rescue team. After receiving CPR at a private medical college hospital in Mukkam, he was referred to another hospital in Kozhikode and later shifted to Ernakulam, where he succumbed to his injuries.
