Alappuzha: A ban has been imposed on multi-axle vehicles, including trailers, container lorries, and goods carriers, in the Aroor–Thuravoor elevated highway construction area.

Lorries coming from the Ernakulam side via Vyttila, Kundannoor, and Kumbalam are not permitted to proceed towards Aroor. Similarly, goods lorries coming from the Thoppumpady side along the state highway are also prohibited from entering the Aroor region.

The restriction will come into effect from Wednesday night. The decision aims to ease the severe traffic congestion at Aroor Junction.

Traffic authorities noted that large vehicles arriving simultaneously from Thoppumpady and Kumbalam towards Aroor were causing major bottlenecks, prompting the enforcement of the ban.
