Koppam: Farsana couldn’t hide her excitement and happiness when she got her gold chain back, thanks to the honesty of the ASHA workers and the Koppam government hospital authorities. Farsana, the daughter of Karinganad Kuzhikattil Muhamadkutty lost her gold chain that weighs four and a half sovereigns on November 5, when she had gone to the Koppam government public health centre to get polio vaccination for her baby.

She realised that she had lost her gold chain only when she checked the bag after reaching home. The family immediately contacted the hospital authorities. They informed that a gold ornament was found at the hospital premises and that it was entrusted at Koppam police station. Farsana reached the police station with her brother and received the gold chain from the ASHA workers.

ASHA workers K Reeja of ward four, KP Rekha of ward 14, M Rajani of ward 16 and P Madhavikutty of ward two found the gold chain at the Koppam public health centre at around 12 pm on November 5.

They were at the hospital as part of the polio vaccination drive conducted on that day. The ASHA workers found the gold chain from under a chair while cleaning the vaccination room. They immediately alerted Asha Jalal, medical officer in – charge, who handed over the gold chain to the police.

The gold chain was returned to the owner in the presence of Janmaithri police beat officers K Sreekumar and K Ratheesh.
