Thrissur: In a dramatic rescue at Kodakara, a migrant worker saved a two-and-a-half-year-old girl who fell into a well near her home. The child, daughter of Prince, a native of Manjookkaran, slipped into the family’s well around 10 am on Saturday.
Hearing the family’s screams, 36-year-old Morthuj, a migrant worker engaged in nearby construction work, rushed to the spot. Without a moment’s hesitation, he jumped into the 15-cubit-deep well and lifted the child from underwater, bringing her safely to the surface within seconds.
Morthuj sustained injuries to both hands during the rescue and was admitted to the Kodakara Family Health Centre. The child is undergoing treatment at Karukutty Apollo Hospital.
