Ponnani: The National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of AV High School, Ponnani, have set an example of compassion and teamwork by building a new house for one of their schoolmates.

The house, constructed at a cost of ₹8 lakh, was funded entirely through the students’ own efforts. They raised the amount by collecting waste materials, selling scrap and even running food stalls during the school youth festival. The project was implemented under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer K Shineesh, with team leaders Nidha Fathima, Jadeed, Helna Basheer, and Adi Shravan leading the initiative.

Minister V Abdurahiman handed over the keys of the new home to the student. The house stands on a six-cent plot of land generously donated by former District Panchayat member M B Faisal and former Panchayat president Mustafa.

School Principal K Preethi, Municipal Chairman Sivadas Attupuram, Shineesh Kannah, K Pradosh, Sreekala Chandran, T A David, K Krishnakumar, K P Deepa, K Gireesh Kumar, K P Ramesan, E Unnimadhavan, P Suresh Babu, K Shimna, E G Ganesan, R Prashanth, and Nida Fathima, among others, were present at the function.
