Thiruvananthapuram: After a brief lull, Kerala is likely to witness rainy days again as the northeast monsoon continues to prevail over the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain accompanied by lightning, thunder, and strong winds at isolated places across the state till Monday.

A yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts for Sunday.

“Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala from November 8 to 10, 2025. Heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm in 24 hours) is also very likely at one or two places during the same period,” reads the IMD alert.

According to the IMD bulletin issued at 7 am on Sunday, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts are also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.

The IMD has urged the public to exercise caution to prevent untoward incidents, as there is a risk of landslides, mudslides, and flooding. People living near riverbanks, coastal regions, hilly terrain, or in houses in poor condition have been advised to move to safer locations upon the direction of local authorities.
