Kottayam doctor clinches ironman title after completing Goa triathlon

Kottayam: Dr B Manoop, Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Kottayam Medical College, has earned the prestigious Ironman title after successfully completing the Goa Ironman 70.3 triathlon in 8 hours and 30 minutes.
The 33-year-old finished the endurance event- which includes a 1.9 km swim through the sea, a 90 km cycling leg, and a 21 km run- after months of focused preparation. He trained in swimming at the Aquatic Centre of Pala St Thomas College and sharpened his open-water skills with the Goa Open Water Swimming Club. Manoop is also an active member of the Kottayam Running Club and the Kottayam Cycling Club.
He is the son of Dr E V Bhasi of Gayathri House, Thattarambalam, Mavelikkara, and K Ambikadevi, a retired Sheristadar.
