Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is likely to witness heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning over the next two days. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for six districts on Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall of 7 cm to 11 cm in 24 hours is very likely at isolated places in Kerala till November 19, and again on November 22 and 23. Squally weather with wind speeds of 35 kmph to 45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, is expected along and off the south Kerala coast on Tuesday.

According to an IMD bulletin, the cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining south Kerala coast at 0.9 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
