Kozhikode: The Vadakara NDPS Court on Saturday sentenced a brother and sister from Palakkad to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹40,000 for possessing 10 kg of ganja.

The duo, Chandrashekharan and Surya, were arrested by Mukkom police in 2020 during the investigation into a separate case involving the rape of an elderly woman in the area.

The siblings were residing in a rented house in Neeleswaram when the police team, led by Sub-Inspector Sajid K, recovered the ganja packets from their residence. The case was later investigated by then Station Inspector Siju B K, who filed the chargesheet.
