Kozhikode: In a major drug bust, the DANSAF team and the Kasaba police seized MDMA, LSD stamps and ecstasy tablets worth over ₹5 crore in Kozhikode. Two men were arrested in the operation.
The accused, Mohammed Irfan (29) of Thiruvannur Nada and Shahad (27) of Kundungal, were taken into custody upon arrival at the Mofussil Bus Stand after a bus from Bengaluru. Police later recovered 250 grams of MDMA, 99 LSD stamps and 44 grams of ecstasy tablets from another tourist bus that had arrived from Bengaluru.
According to police, the drugs were hidden inside water heaters sent as parcels on the second bus. The two men were allegedly using their education consultancy, named ‘Dream Path’ in Mankavu, as a cover for drug trafficking.
Police launched the operation after DANSAF Sub Inspector Manoj Edayedath received a tip-off. Officers said the consultancy had been under surveillance for some time. The accused have reportedly confessed that they had smuggled drugs earlier as well and that they were able to source large quantities within 10 days.
The raid was led by Narcotic Cell Assistant Commissioner A J George and Kasaba SI Saneesh. This is the sixth major drug seizure by DANSAF in the city within a month.
