Four individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the assault on Ragam Theatre owner Sunil and his driver in Thrissur. The detentions were made from Ernakulam and Thrissur. Police said the quotation gang operated under the leadership of Sijo, a resident of Ollur in Thrissur.

A preliminary probe suggests the attack stemmed from a financial dispute. According to police sources, an NRI businessman allegedly paid Sijo ₹3 lakh to carry out the assault. Investigators are interrogating the detained suspects to identify the businessman involved.

The attack occurred the other day when a six-member gang targeted Sunil and his driver. The group arrived in two Innova cars. As Sunil stepped out of his vehicle to open the gate of his house at Velappaya, the assailants, who were hiding in the dark, attacked both men with machetes.

Sunil sustained injuries to his leg, while the driver suffered wounds to his hand. Both were first taken to Thrissur Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Daya Hospital.
