Thaliparamba: Keeping pace with the times, the women candidates fielded by the CPM in Anthoor municipality have now emerged as unexpected reel stars.

A campaign reel featuring the candidates dancing has taken social media by storm. All 15 women in the fray joined in, dancing to the popular Mappila folk number “Chelakkuri manam parukkamilla Chelil Anijival…” Leading the line-up is V Sathidevi, vice chairperson of the outgoing municipal council.

The municipal council’s permanent committee heads, Omana Muraleedharan and M Amina, also stepped in, matching moves with the younger contestants. Of the 29 wards in Anthoor municipality, five CPM candidates including three women have already been elected unopposed, and they too appear in the viral reel.
