Kerala rain: Yellow alert in 4 districts today

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki for Friday, warning of isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms across the state.
Heavy rainfall in the range of 7 cm to 11 cm in 24 hours is expected during this period. According to the forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely at one or two places in Kerala till Saturday.
Squally weather with wind speeds reaching 40 kmph to 50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, is likely along and off the Kerala coast till Saturday. Separate swell surge alerts have been issued for the coasts of Kollam, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, cautioning fishers and coastal residents about possible wave surges till November 28 night. Fishermen have been asked to maintain utmost vigilance, especially during night-time operations.
