Kottayam: SARPA snake rescuer Jomon Sarika safely captured two large pythons that had been causing fear and alarm among residents in the area. One of the snakes was spotted in a small stream near the front yard of Marangoli Church, while the other was found in an adjacent plot. Jomon, a Kottayam-based rescuer, carried out the operation late at night.

Pedestrians had frequently been startled by the pythons coiled near the narrow walkway between nearby fields. Panic spread on Thursday evening when both snakes were seen close to the path and in surrounding areas. Locals quickly contacted Jomon, a native of Kurupanthara, to intervene.

After several hours of effort, he managed to capture both pythons. Jomon later confirmed that the snakes have been handed over to the Forest Department.
