Kondotty: Home Guard M Vijayan, who served 23 years in the Border Security Force and 13 years with the Kondotty police, received a warm send-off from the local police at Mongam Angadi.

Even as a police team led by Circle Inspector P A Shameer arrived at Mongam Angadi, Vijayan was still busy managing traffic on the National Highway. Vijayan, 63, is a native of Onnam Mile in Kalothu. On hearing about the send-off, locals and passing drivers gathered at the spot to join the celebrations.

After felicitating him with a bouquet and a memento, the police accompanied Vijayan home in a police vehicle. Vijayan began his service as a Home Guard under Kondotty police in 2012.
