A parked car was vandalised near the new bus stand in Kattappana around 5.40 pm on Sunday, causing damage estimated at over ₹10,000. The vehicle belongs to Sojan, a businessman from Idayar. Witnesses said the incident was completely unprovoked.

CCTV visuals show the man, a construction worker, approaching the car, inspecting it briefly, and then picking up a stone to smash the front left window. He is later seen attempting to damage the side mirror as well.

Locals said the man appeared to be intoxicated and stayed near the spot after the attack. When Kattappana police arrived following alerts from the public, he allegedly threw stones at them too.

Police stated that the man seemed to have mental health issues. As no formal complaint was filed, he was released from custody.
