Rail traffic was briefly disrupted in Thrissur on Friday morning after a coal-laden goods train derailed near Akamala Sasta Temple at Wadakkanchery, along the Thrissur–Shoranur railway stretch. The incident happened around 9 am.

Preliminary reports indicate that excess load may have triggered the derailment. An engine was brought from Shoranur to clear the affected portion of the train, and normal traffic resumed by around 10 am.
