Idukki: Overcoming severe congenital physical challenges, Pramod Das from Kerala has secured a silver medal in taekwondo at the 13th Korean Ambassador International Open Championship held in Nepal. Pramod, who hails from Kanjikuzhy near Cheruthoni in Idukki district, was born without his left hand and with a deformed right hand, but has refused to let his disabilities stand in the way of his sporting ambitions.

Pramod, the third son of Das and Chinnamma, who reside at Pallikkunnu in Kanjikuzhy, has used his legs to shine in various sports events. His other achievements include national and international prizes in football and marathon. Additionally, he holds nine world records.

He has been active in sports since his schooldays at SN Higher Secondary School in Kanjikuzhy. While a student at Maharaja's College in Ernakulam, Pramod debuted as a university national football player. Later, he became the first coach in Asia to hold a FIFA licence.

Pramod is married to Elizabeth, who hails from Venmony. He trains under Paul George, the master at Universal Academy in Cheruthoni.
