Perambra: The Kizhakkayil house at Eravattur in Perambra has scripted a rare and historic feat in the local body elections this time, with three women from the family emerging victorious as LDF candidates from three different seats. It is an uncommon occurrence for three members of the same family to contest elections simultaneously and even rarer for all three to win.

The sisters, identified as Vanaja, Saritha and Sajitha, daughters of Kizhakkeyil Omana Amma, entered active politics following in the footsteps of their father, the late Kunhikrishnan Nair. 56-year-old Vanaja, the eldest, secured victory from Ward 17 of the Perambra Panchayat in her electoral debut.

The second daughter, 50-year-old Saritha, won from the Kaiveli division of the Kunnummal Block Panchayat, while the youngest, 46-year-old Sajitha, was elected from Ward 6 of the Maniyur Panchayat.

With their victories confirmed, the trio made their way to their ancestral home, where they met their mother and sought her blessings.
