Ooty shivers as snowfall ushers in extreme cold

Ooty: Ooty has plunged into extreme cold with the onset of snowfall, with temperatures nearing freezing and tourists flocking to the hill station to witness the wintry spectacle.
The hill station is currently experiencing warm daytime temperatures, while nights bring chilly snowfall. Low-lying areas of Ooty have already recorded a morning temperature as low as 1°C, particularly at the Race Course, Railway Station premises, and Kanthal HPF premises.
In the Avalanche Hills, snowfall intensity has increased, with early morning temperatures dropping to -1°C. At the Ooty Botanical Garden, the mercury read 2.3°C yesterday morning.
Meteorologists predict that snowfall is likely to intensify over the coming days and travellers have begun to flock to the hill station to witness the winter spectacle.
