Kottayam: Asha Natesan, the postwoman at the Vaikaprayar branch post office in Vaikom, has gone viral for her inventive approach to informing families about their mail when their homes are locked.

Recently, Asha visited the residence of MA Roby at Malithara in Vaikaprayar twice to deliver a letter, but found no one at home. Concerned that the letter might contain urgent information, she came up with a creative solution.

Noticing the CCTV camera at the house, she stood in front of it, held up the letter, and signalled that it had been delivered to a neighbouring house. The house owner, who was abroad, saw the visuals on his mobile phone. Impressed, he shared the video with a friend, and it quickly went viral on social media, earning widespread appreciation for Asha's dedication.

A native of TV Puram, Asha has been serving at the Vaikaprayar post office for 16 years. She often uses WhatsApp groups to trace recipients when needed, ensuring that mail reaches the correct address without fail. She lives in Mangad, Kaduthuruthy, with her husband Jubish, a senior assistant loco pilot with Indian Railways, their children Adinath, a Class 9 student, Vedika, a Class 5 student, and her mother-in-law.
