A toll plaza employee was assaulted by occupants of a car at the Paliyekkara toll plaza in Thrissur district early on Wednesday. The injured has been identified as Nimaram, a native of Rajasthan, who works as a security guard at the toll plaza.

The incident occurred around 2.30 am, and visuals of the assault have since surfaced. The attackers were travelling towards Thrissur in a white Fortuner.

According to reports, after the vehicle’s FASTag was read and the car moved forward before stopping, three persons got out and assaulted the staffer without any provocation. Nimaram was seated on a chair at the second booth when he was attacked.

Another individual attempted to enter a different booth to assault another staff member, but was restrained by those accompanying him. The group also damaged the boom barriers at the toll plaza and allowed vehicles to pass through without payment.
Paliyekkara toll plaza authorities have filed a complaint with the Pudukkad police station.
