Irinjalakkuda: As a tribute to the nurses who have rendered exemplary service in medical care, a 15-foot-high statue of Florence Nightingale has been installed at the General Hospital here. The statue has been erected in front of new building in the hospital campus.

 The lamp held aloft in the statue’s raised hand has been designed to glow at night. The statue has been crafted  by C Suresh, a native of Karuvannur, who is well known for painting images at the entrance of the Thrissur Pooram Exhibition venue for several years. The work on the statue was completed within three weeks.
