Palakkad: A collective of local youths has built a bus waiting shelter near the Kaippuram Anganwadi, addressing a long-pending need in the area. Until now, commuters- including students and elderly residents- had no safe place to wait for buses and were forced to endure rain and harsh sun.

The initiative was spearheaded by environmental activist Kaippuram Abbas, who mobilised local youths to construct the shelter with adequate seating facilities. Completed within a couple of days, the shelter has now been opened for public use.

Along with Abbas, the effort was also spearheaded by P P Farooq, Samad Vellakkavil, K Basheer, V Shameem, V Bapputti and V Nishad. Local residents also extended strong support, joining hands with the youth collective to make the project a reality.
