Mukkom: Ameena Babu, elected member of Karassery Panchayat, has fulfilled her electoral promise even before taking the oath by initiating the construction of a borewell. The new facility will provide major relief to families in Koovvappara, who have been struggling with severe drinking water shortages.

When Ameena reached out to her voters during he election campaign, their primary demand was a permanent solution to the drinking water crisis. She had assured them that she would work to provide drinking water regardless of whether she won or lost the election.

Ameena said she attended the oath-taking ceremony only after works on the borewell had begun and water could soon be accessed from it.

The first phase of the project cost Rs. 95,000. To supply water to families residing at higher elevations of the area, a tank and motor will also be installed as part of the project.

The borewell project was inaugurated by Muslim League Assembly Constituency Committee president C K Kasim. Panchayat member Ameena Babu, along with A P Bappu, Samad Anauyamkunnu, Rauf Kolakkadan, Riyas Oorali, Jaffar Sali, A P Hakkeem Attupuram, Sabair Puthiyottil, Muneer Hanneer Poyil, Mujeeb Karuthedath and Yasar Chalooli, among others, spoke at the event.
