Pathanamthitta: Senior Civil Police Officer (CPO) Umesh U of Aranmula police station has been terminated from service for violating the model code of conduct of the force. In the order issued by the Pathanamthitta district police chief, Umesh was accused of failing to discharge his duties as a police officer. The Kozhikode native had been under suspension for the past 18 months.

He faced action for criticising senior officials and the police system through social media posts. He had previously faced three suspensions and more than 30 disciplinary actions on similar grounds. An internal probe reportedly revealed serious disciplinary violations on his part, including attempts to defame the police force.

Despite departmental action, Umesh continued to share photos of the memos issued to him and openly criticised the force. He also shared details of the allegations against him and the reasons for the department's actions.

On December 14, he posted on Facebook about receiving the termination notice.
