Idukki: The 'Yathra Fuels' petrol pump operated by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in Munnar recorded its highest-ever daily sales of ₹18.5 lakh on Saturday. Sales on Sunday stood close behind at ₹17.2 lakh. The previous record of daily sales was ₹17.15 lakh.

The surge in sales is attributed to the heavy influx of tourists to the globally renowned hill station in Idukki district during the Christmas–New Year holiday season. Yathra Fuels, the only petrol and diesel outlet in Munnar that operates round the clock, also registered sales of ₹17 lakh on Christmas Day and ₹16 lakh on December 26.

The fuel pump was commissioned by KSRTC on September 18, 2021, as part of the corporation’s initiative to boost non-ticket revenue.
