Pathanamthitta: A Tiger has fallen into a well in a house in Villoonnippara, in Pathanamthitta, early on Tuesday. The Chittar police received the call around 5 am and have since made arrangements to rescue the animal.

Speaking from the spot, a forest officer told the media that upon initial inspection, the Tiger appears to be 7-8 years old.

He added that trained veterinarians will arrive, assess the situation, and determine how the animal will be rescued. The officer added that the priority is to ensure public safety and rescue the Tiger without causing any problems to its health.

The Chittar police said that the veterinarian will administer a tranquilliser, following which the animal will be rescued. However, the Forest Officer noted that the well must be emptied before doing so and said that arrangements have been made for the same.

While residents have complained about wild elephants in the region, this is the first time a tiger has been sighted there, according to the Forest Officer.
