Kerala engineering students build device to aid paralysed, stroke patients

Kothamangalam: A team of biomedical engineering students at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nellikkuzhy, has developed a device that promises to bring cheer to the physically challenged and the paralysed.
Their innovation, the Limb Rehabilitation and Training Robot, is designed to help patients recovering from strokes, accidents, or surgeries regain movement in affected limbs. The robot provides effective physiotherapy for those with limited mobility, combining advanced engineering technology with an intelligent control system.
The device has been developed by sixth-semester students of the Biomedical Engineering Diploma at the institute. They said the support extended by Head of the Department Archana Krishnan and various faculty members made the breakthrough possible. According to them, the invention represents a significant step in infusing the healthcare sector with automation technology.
