Food lovers in Kerala have a major new destination to explore as the state's very first railway coach restaurant, Juju Express, opens its doors at Payyannur railway station. Strategically positioned right at the entrance of the station, the eatery is set to be officially inaugurated by Madhukar Roat, the Divisional Railway Manager of the Palakkad Division.

The main highlight of Juju Express is its extensive menu, featuring 90 delicious dishes ranging from traditional Kerala fare to popular North Indian and Chinese delicacies. The pricing is set to be a major crowd-puller, offering up to a 30% discount compared to regular restaurants, keeping in line with Indian Railways' approved tariff rates. Customers can enjoy a satisfying fish curry meal for just ₹60, while the premium Juju Special Creamy Alfaham is priced at ₹580. Breakfast service kicks off early at 5 am, serving traditional South Indian staples like idli, vada, and dosa.

The restaurant has been crafted from a decommissioned three-tier railway coach transported from Mangaluru. It has been mounted on a specially laid track on Ramanthali Road, just outside the station premises. The coach has been redesigned into a fully air-conditioned dining space that can comfortably accommodate 50 guests. For those who prefer an open-air vibe, a beautifully constructed platform adjacent to the coach offers outdoor seating for an additional 30 people.

To cater to late-night travellers, the restaurant will operate 24 hours a day. It is equipped with a modern kitchen alongside dedicated counters for tea, fresh juice, and ice cream. Whether you are catching an early morning train or looking for a midnight snack, Juju Express is fully geared to serve delicious, budget-friendly meals around the clock.
