Jeddah: Moments after taking off, a Saudia flight was forced to return to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport after a mother forgot her baby in the waiting area of the terminal.

The Saudia's flight SV832 to Kuala Lampur had just left the airport when passenger came to realize that she had left her baby behind at the airport terminal and refused to continue on the flight.

It is quite rare for a flight to turn around or divert midair for anything other than technical or passenger health reasons. The pilot, however, on being notified of the problem by the cabin crew made the unusual request to make the return to Jeddah airport.

Airport authorities were baffled at this request but coordinately promptly to establish protocols for what is a first-of-a-kind scenario for them.

The young mother and the child were reunited upon the flight's return at Jeddah airport. The pilot has been lauded on social media for coming to the rescue of the distressed mother.

A video of the pilot requesting Air Traffic Control operators to return to the airport has gone viral on social media.
