After India annulled the Indus Valley Treaty signed 1960 and suspended visas to Pakistanis and asked all Pakistan nationals to leave India within 72 hours, Pakistan responded with the suspension of trade, bilateral accord and closed the Wagah Border.

Most importantly, Pakistan suspended the Shimla Agreement, signed with Indian in 1972 after the India-Pak war. The decisions were taken during a meeting of its National Security Committee in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and top government and military officials.

“Pakistan shall exercise the right to hold all bilateral agreements with India, including but not limited to the Simla Agreement, in abeyance, till India desists from its manifested behaviour of fomenting terrorism inside Pakistan, trans-national killings, and non-adherence to international law and UN Resolutions on Kashmir,” the Pakistan PMO said in the statement.

Pakistan also suspended all visas under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) issued to Indian nationals, except for Sikh pilgrims.

Pakistan also announced the closure of its airspace to all India-owned or Indian-operated airlines with immediate effect.

The strength of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad will be reduced to 30 diplomats and staff members from April 30, the statement added.

Pakistan rejected the Indian decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, saying it's the lifeline for 240 million Pakistanis. "Any attempt to divert or stop water meant for Pakistan under the Indus Water Treaty will be considered an act of War," said the statement.

Announcing the closure of the Wagah border, the Pakistan government said that all cross-border transit from India must exit by April 30.

In a big jolt to the neighbouring country, the NSC decided to suspend all trade and Afghan transit trade with India.

As countries around the world continued to express solidarity with Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan criticised India for accusing it of plotting the terrorist attack in Pahalgam without conducting any probe.

India cancels all Pak visas
The latest Pakistani response came after India ramped up its restrictions following the adoption of the five measures on Wednesday. India on Thursday revoked all visas issued to Pakistani nationals, including medical visas, and suspended visa services for Pakistanis.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that all existing valid visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be revoked with effect from April 27. All medical visas issued to Pakistanis will be cancelled from April 29.

The minister asked all Pakistanis to leave India before their visas expired.

It also banned Indians from visiting Pakistan. "Indian nationals are strongly advised to avoid travelling to Pakistan. Those Indian nationals currently in Pakistan are also advised to return to India at the earliest," the Ministry of External Affairs said in the statement.
