Kuwait City: Ten expatriate workers have died from suspected alcohol poisoning in Ahmadi Governorate, while several others are being treated in Adan and Farwaniya hospitals. Some remain in critical condition, and a few have reportedly lost their vision, local media said.
The victims are believed to have consumed locally made alcohol purchased from the same source, though at different locations. Arab Times reported the liquor was bought from Al Shuyoukh Block 4.
The Ministry of Interior has not yet confirmed the details. Onmanorama has sought a response from the ministry, which is awaited.
The incident comes amid an ongoing crackdown on the production of fake liquor in Kuwait, where alcohol is banned.
Earlier in May, two expatriates were found dead on the rooftop of a building in the Khaitan area. The forensic report then concluded that they most likely died of alcohol poisoning, reported Arab Times.
