The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has warned of dense fog and significantly reduced visibility across various parts of the UAE on Saturday and Sunday. Authorities have issued a high-level weather alert, urging residents and motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads.

According to the NCM, while the daytime weather is expected to remain generally fair to partly cloudy, a spike in humidity overnight and into Sunday morning is highly likely to trigger thick fog and mist. Coastal and internal regions are expected to be the hardest hit by these atmospheric conditions.

The weather department had issued red and yellow alerts Friday morning following a severe drop in visibility. With the weekend underway, transport authorities have strongly advised commuters, especially early morning drivers, to strictly adhere to traffic safety guidelines, reduce speeds, and maintain safe distances between vehicles to prevent accidents in low-visibility conditions.

Light to moderate winds, blowing southeasterly to northeasterly at speeds of 10 to 20 km/h, may occasionally gust up to 30 km/h on Saturday. Despite the misty mornings, daytime temperatures remained relatively warm. On Friday, the country’s highest temperature was recorded at 45.8°C in Al Ghuwaifat, located in the Al Dhafra region, at 3 pm. Today, maximum temperatures in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah are expected to hover around 42°C. Overnight temperatures will drop to minimums of 27°C in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and 26°C in Sharjah. Meanwhile, sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to remain calm.
