Guwahati: Kerala were off to a solid start after being put in to bat by Assam on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match here on Friday. The visitors were 141/1 when bad light ended play on a rain-interrupted day in which only 37 overs were completed.

Captain Rohan Kunnummal (83) and Krishna Prasad (52 batting) added 133 for the first wicket. Rohan hit 11 fours in his 95-ball knock. He was dismissed by Siddharth Sarmah.

Krishna Prasad bounced back after bagging a pair against Uttar Pradesh (UP) in Kerala's opening match. He has so far hit four fours and a couple of sixes in his 104-ball stint. Rohan Prem was giving him company on four.

Earlier, bad weather delayed the toss.

Assam went down to Chhattisgarh by 10 wickets in their opening match and are yet to open their account. Kerala have one point, courtesy their drawn opening match against UP.

Brief scores: Kerala 141/1 in 37 overs (Rohan Kunnummal 83; Krishna Prasad 52 batting) vs Assam.
