The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released a promotional video for the upcoming Champions Trophy inspired by Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible.
The video features the Pakistani duo Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi, India's Hardik Pandya, Afghanistan's Mohammed Nabi, and England's Phil Salt.
"Careful, brother. There's danger everywhere,' Shadab says as he lowers Shaheen into a high-security vault to claim the trophy. "One mistake and game over," Shaheen reminds his teammate. However, the Pakistanis are not the only ones on the mission, as Indian all-rounder Pandya enters by dodging laser security.
Once inside the vault, they face a third rival, Afghan all-rounder Nabi, nicknamed 'The President', who had sneaked in by drilling a hole in the floor. But then, a fourth seeker entered through a portal; it was Englishman Salt. The four rivals inside the vault then dive in to grab the prize.
In addition to the four nations featured in the video, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa are the other teams in the 50-over competition, which begins on February 19.
Pakistan are the host nation, but India will not visit them, instead, the neighbours will play their matches in the UAE due to diplomatic tension between the countries. Pakistan defeated India in the final in the previous edition, held in 2017.
