Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched a narrow two-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a high-voltage IPL clash on Saturday, despite heroic efforts from Ayush Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja.
Chasing a daunting target of 214, CSK managed 211/5 at the end of their 20 overs.

Mhatre dazzled with a stroke-filled 94 off 48 balls, peppered with nine boundaries and five sixes. He stitched together a crucial 114-run stand for the second wicket with Jadeja, who remained unbeaten on 77 from 45 deliveries, hitting eight fours and two sixes.

Lungi Ngidi led the bowling charge for RCB, picking up 3 wickets for 30 runs and proving decisive in the final overs. Earlier, RCB set the tone with a powerful batting display. Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli gave them a flying start, adding 97 runs for the opening partnership. Bethell struck 55, while Kohli anchored the innings with 62.

Shepherd blasted four fours and six sixes to make 53 not out off only 14 balls. His fifty was the fastest of IPL 2025 and equalled the second-fastest in the league’s history. Among CSK’s bowlers, Matheesha Pathirana stood out with a three-wicket haul, conceding 36 runs in his three overs.
