Half centuries from Sai Sudharsan and Yashasvi Jaiswal helped India to 264/4 on the first day of the fourth Test at Manchester.

Sudharsan, who replaced Karun Nair, scored 61 off 151 before being dismissed by England captain Ben Stokes. Jaiswal (58) was removed by Liam Dawson, the only change in the English XI from Lord's, a replacement for the injured Shoaib Bashir.

K L Rahul made 46, while Rishabh Pant was retired hurt. Ravindra Jadeja (19) and Shardul Thakur (19) were at the crease at stumps. Earlier, Stokes won the toss and opted to field.

Shardul Thakur has replaced Nitish Kumar Reddy, while Anshul Kamboj has been given a debut in place of the injured Akash Deep. Washington Sundar has retained his place.
