The Asian Cricket Council on Saturday confirmed that the match between India and Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup will go ahead as scheduled.

India and Pakistan are set to clash in Dubai on September 14. The same venue had hosted the two countries during their group stage meeting in the Champions Trophy held in February. India defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in the match and went on to lift the Champions Trophy.

India and Pakistan are in Group A alongside Oman and the hosts, the UAE. Group B comprises Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. The event will be held from September 9 to 28.

Recently, Indian players pulled out of a meeting with Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends, a competition contested by former stars, held in England.

India and Pakistan don't play bilateral series due to diplomatic tension between the neighbouring countries. The situation worsened since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir, in which Pakistan-based terrorists killed 26 civilians.

A war-like situation followed, with India targeting terror camps across the border. Pakistan's shelling led to the suspension of the Indian Premier League.
