The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former India cricketer Suresh Raina on Wednesday for questioning in connection with an alleged illegal betting app-linked money laundering case.
According to sources, the ED is expected to record Raina's statements under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). A PTI report said that the 38-year-old has been asked to depose before the agency in connection with an app named 1xBet.
It is understood that Raina was connected to the app through endorsements.
The agency is investigating multiple cases involving illegal betting apps that allegedly defrauded numerous individuals and investors, amounting to crores, and evaded a substantial tax amount.
