Mohammed Kaif scored an unbeaten fifty as Alleppey Ripples defeated Trivandrum Royals by three wickets to post their first win in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL-2) at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

Kaif made 66 not out from just 30 balls, smashing seven sixes and a boundary as the Ripples won with two balls to spare. Captain Mohammed Azharuddeen made a 22-ball 38 as they chased a target of 179 runs.

Earlier, the Royals' skipper Krishna Prasad scored a 53-ball 67. Nikhil M (43) and Abdul Basith (31) powered the local side to 178/5 from 20 overs.

On Tuesday, Thrissur Titans will play high-flying Kochi Blue Tigers starting 2.30 pm and the Ripples will again be in action, against Calicut Globstars, starting 6.45 pm.
