Tilak Varma, India's match-winner in the Asia Cup final against Pakistan, said he cut himself off from sledging from the opposition and remained focused during the thrilling battle in Dubai.
Varma scored an unbeaten 69 as India defeated Pakistan by five wickets. He forged two brilliant partnerships of 57 runs and 60 runs with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube respectively, after India suffered an early setback at 20/3.
"We lost three wickets quickly and things were a bit heated up then. I came to bat a bit earlier than normal. But I did not say anything or play a rash shot to let the team and country down," Varma said upon reaching Hyderabad.
"There were a lot of things happening in the middle but I can't reveal all of them. Those things happen in India-Pakistan matches and they are part of the game. But our focus was on winning the match," he said.
India were unbeaten in the T20 tournament, defeating Pakistan thrice — first in the league phase, then in the Super 4s stage and eventually in the final.
