As the Women's Premier League (WPL) franchises chose to be frugal in their retentions, all Kerala-based players will most likely head to the auction.

While three Kerala players had been retained last season, no Malayali has found a spot in the retention list this time.

Unlike in the previous seasons, the franchises chose to hold on to only a few players from last season, with the UP Warriorz retaining just Shweta Sehrawat and the Gujarat Giants letting all their domestic stars leave and retaining Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney.

RCB retained four, namely Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry and Shreyanka Patil, while the Mumbai Indians have held on to Natalie Sciver, Harmanpreet Kaur, Hayley Matthews, Amanjot Kaur and G Kamalini.

Delhi Capitals retained five of their stars, namely Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp and Niki Prasad.

Ahead of WPL 2025, DC retained Minnu Mani, MI retained S Sajana and RCB were reluctant to part with Asha Sobhana. Leg spinner Asha was unlucky to miss the entire event due to an injury, while young pacer V J Joshitha, picked from the auction, represented the RCB. The auction ahead of WPL 2026 will take place in New Delhi on November 27.
