Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has returned to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as an assistant coach with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

"I am eager to work closely with the coaching group and players to help bring another title to Kolkata," Watson said in a press release.

Watson is an IPL legend who played 145 matches across 12 seasons, scoring four centuries. He lifted the trophy with the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings.

Venky Mysore, CEO of KKR, said Watson's experience as a player and coach at the highest level will add immense value to the side. "His understanding of the T20 format is world-class, and we look forward to his contributions both on and off the field," Venky Mysore said.
